Prof. Yomi Ogun is a distinguished Nigerian neurologist and academic with nearly four decades of experience in internal medicine, neurology, and infectious diseases. He serves as a Professor of Internal Medicine and Neurology at Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) and as an Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

Prof. Ogun is internationally recognized for his expertise in stroke, neuro-HIV, and neurophysiology (EMG/NCS). He has held several leadership roles, including Immediate Past President of the African Academy of Neurology (2017–2019), President of the Nigeria Stroke Organization (since 2009), and board member of the World Stroke Organization (2016–2020).

His academic credentials are extensive: he holds fellowships from the American Academy of Neurology, World Stroke Organization, Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), American College of Physicians, and West African College of Physicians. He has also contributed to global health initiatives, serving on the WHO Stroke Rehabilitation Program and as a national coordinator for the NeuroAiD Safe Treatment (NeST) Registry.

Prof. Ogun has authored over 100 scientific publications and has been involved in numerous research collaborations, including studies on Parkinson’s disease, ALS/MND care policy, and the burden of neurological disorders in Africa.

In addition to his academic and clinical roles, he has served as Provost of the Olabisi Onabanjo University College of Health Sciences and as Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. He is also a founding director of the Nigeria chapter of the Center for Special Studies on HIV Care, in collaboration with New York Presbyterian Hospital and Cornell University.

Prof. Ogun continues to be a leading figure in neurology, both in Nigeria and internationally, contributing significantly to research, education, and clinical practice.
