
Dr. Omotayo A Ojo
Dr. Omotayo Abimbola Ojo is a distinguished Nigerian neurosurgeon and medical academic renowned for his skill, dedication, and impact in the field of neurosurgery. Currently serving as a consultant neurosurgeon at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Dr. Ojo also lends his expertise as a visiting consultant at Marigold Hospital, Lagos.
A proud indigene of Ilesa, Osun State, Dr. Ojo trained at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and has remained committed to advancing neurosurgical care in Nigeria. His decision to stay and serve in his home country—despite opportunities abroad—reflects his deep passion for national development and patient care. He is widely celebrated for his life-saving interventions, including the successful treatment of Aproko Doctor’s brain tumor and the surgical care of Mark Essien’s father, who survived a brain aneurysm in 2021.
Dr. Ojo is not only a clinician but also an academic mentor at LUTH, where he teaches and inspires the next generation of neurosurgeons. His humility, timeliness, and passion are widely praised by colleagues and patients alike.
His scholarly contributions include research on sphenoid sinus anatomy, management of intracranial subdural empyema, and techniques for treating multiple brain aneurysms without intraoperative adjuncts. In recognition of his early promise, he received the Young Neurosurgeon Award at the World Neurosurgeon Societies in 2013.
